She will play Felicia, the wife of Mark Wahlberg's Mike Williams who is aboard the oil rig during the BP spill of 2010, reported Digital Spy.
The film has been based on a New York Times article 'Deepwater Horizon's Final Hour' and will follow the 48 hours before and the day of the spill which left 11 dead and oil gushing into the ocean for days.
John Malkovich has previously been cast, with rumours Gina Rodriguez will also be appearing.
Peter Berg is directing from a screenplay by Matthew Michael Carnahan, Matthew Sand and Academy Award nominee JC Chandor.
