KEIP Phase 2 project to incur Rs 3800 crore expense

An amount of Rs 3800 crore will be spent for the Kolkata Environment Improvement Project (KEIP) phase two, KMC Mayor Sovan Chatterjee said today.
Admitting, the KEIP Phase one project was plagued by 20 per cent backlog in drainge, Chatterjee said another report will be tabled on November 18 to detect the anomalies.
The Phase two project will then give emphasis on different aspects like drainage, surface drinking water.
Chatterjee put the onus on the 25-30 year of "left misrule" for the drainage and drinking water supply problems facing the KMC areas.
