Delhi BJP's Campaign Committee Chief for the Lok Sabha elections Vijay Kumar Malhotra today sought to put the entire blame of steep hike in the power and water tariff in the national capital on AAP leader and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and termed it a "great betrayal" with the people of Delhi.
"The budget provision passed by the Legislative Assembly for the year 2014-15 as proposed by Kejriwal did not make any provision for the subsidy in power and water tariff," he said.
There was provision for subsidy only up to March 31 and now the subsidy of Rs 1 per unit being provided by Kejriwal Government to the consumers will not be available from today. This is great betrayal of Kejriwal with the people of Delhi, he said.
Launching an attack on the AAP chief, Malhotra said that now Kejriwal is shedding crocodile tears and playing a drama by meeting the Lt Governor and is trying to cover up this betrayal.
"If there is no provision of subsidy in the budget then how the Lt. Governor will provide subsidy?" he said.
He also appealed to the Central Government that it should grant special financial assistance to Delhi and save the people of Delhi from shock of steep hike in power and water tariff.
Mocking Kejriwal's comments where he had said that that the way Kaikai had sent lord Ram to exile, the same way he was compelled to resign from the post of Chief Minister by Congress and BJP, Malhotra said that the statement shows that he is of frivolous character and is not a great leader.
"Every citizen of Delhi knows that he had resigned as Chief Minister of Delhi to contest Lok Sabha elections and he left the people of Delhi in lurch. We strongly condemn Kejriwal for comparing himself with Ram," he said.
