A truck was also seized and one person detained during the raids yesterday. The seized kerosene was meant for distribution under the public distribution system (PDS), said district Civil Supplies Officer (CSO), Nilakantha Mohanty.
Some petrol and diesel was also seized. It is suspected that adulteration of petroleum products was going on there, he said.
Stringent action would be taken against people involved in diverting PDS kerosene and adulterating it, the CSO said.
It was the second major haul of PDS kerosene in the district. Earlier, police seized around 1,000 litres kerosene and around 600 litres of adulterated diesel from Bhanjanagar and Patapur.
