Singer Kid Cudi has checked into rehab following a battle with "depression and suicidal urges".
The 32-year-old hip hop artist revealed to his fans on Facebook that he has moved into a facility to help him cope with crippling anxiety.
"Its been difficult for me to find the words to what I'm about to share with you because I feel ashamed. Ashamed to be a leader and hero to so many while admitting I've been living a lie. It took me a while to get to this place of commitment, but it is something I have to do for myself, my family, my best friend/daughter and all of you, my fans.
"Yesterday I checked myself into rehab for depression and suicidal urges. I am not at peace. I haven't been since you've known me. If I didn't come here, I would have done something to myself," Cudi wrote.
The star, whose real name is Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, assured fans that his next album, "Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin," is "still on the way," but he won't be able to participate much in the promotion.
The album had been slated to drop last week but was recently delayed. A new release date has yet to be announced.
Mescudi concluded his Facebook statement with a pledge and an apology, "Ill be back, stronger, better. Reborn. I feel so ashamed. Im sorry.
