Besides kite teams from different parts of the country, kite flyer's from France, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia would also take part in the annual event, Tourism Minister P Rajavelu told reporters here.
The festival, being organised by the Department of Tourism in association with the Kochi-based Kite Life Foundation of India, would be inaugurated by Chief Minister N Rangasamy in the sprawling New Port Area in Uppalam, he said.
The purpose of holding the festival was to make Puducherry "an ideal location for kite flying and kite making activities," he said.
The event would be marked by workshops on 'kite making' for children, exhibition of kites, sky lantern festival among others, he added.
