"The unit 1, which has been generating 600 MWe, will be shut down for 60 days for maintenance and refueling outage. When it resumes, the unit will produce 1000 MWe electricity," Site Director RS Sundar said.
The first unit had produced 6873 million units of power till 7 am of June 24, with the turbine generator "remaining in service for a cumulative period of 9267 hours," he said in a statement.
He said Unit 2 of KKNPP has completed 'Hot Run', a process of taking temperature of coolant water to operating temperature, besides Integrated Commissioning tests.
