The city police sources said that a set of guidelines have already been issued in this regard which would be implemented with an immediate effect.
The apex court had on July 18 made acid attacks, illegal sale and purchase of acid non-bailable offences.
The SC had also enhanced the compensation amount to Rs three lakh from Rs 50,000.
Complying to the SC directive, the Kolkata Police has made photo identity cards a must for acid buyers and sellers, who would also have to mandatorily possess licence and keep record of its sale.
It has also been specified that acid should not be sold to persons who are less than 18 years old, the sources said.
