The Managing Director of the Gurgaon-based firm along with his Deputy General Manager allegedly offered Rs 1.80 lakh as bribe to Public Health Engineering officials (PHE) for securing Rs 30 lakh worth contract of weighing pads, officials alleged.
The sleuths of the state vigilance bureau yesterday arrested the chief engineer, mechanical engineering department, besides an assistant executive engineer from the PHE office here after they were allegedly found receiving Rs 1.80 lakh from the officials of the MNC.
Soon after the arrest, the SVO officials conducted raids at the houses of chief engineer at Hyderpora in Srinagar and Sidhra at Jammu.
They also raided the other official's residence at Sarwal area here and recovered a large number of documents pertaining to their investments.
"The documents seized from the houses of the accused were scrutinised by the vigilance department," a senior vigilance official said.
He said that the Korean embassy in New Delhi was informed through the proper channel about the incident.
"They will be in the state vigilance custody for two more days," the official told PTI here.
The officials said the organisation had figured at number two in the tender floated by the Mechanical Engineering Department last year for purchase of portable weighing pads for Transport Department including the office of RTO Jammu.
The company, which got the contract, however did not fulfil the specifications and as a result the Mechanical Engineering Department cancelled their tender.
The chief engineer and the assistant executive engineer had then had called representatives of the Gurgaon-based MNC for "negotiations" on Rs 30 lakh worth tender.
