21-year-old Jaipur-born Rana completed her international finance course at Harvard University. She is also a skilled dancer, specifically contemporary and semi-classical disciplines.
Rana is an active social worker and has an NGO, which focuses on encouraging green energy production and awareness campaigns for health and legal issues.
This year's Miss World pageant has 'Beauty with a Purpose' contest under which each contestant is judged on the impact she makes working with nonprofits, or starting her own, in the poorer parts of the world.
Priyanka Chopra was the last winner of the coveted title in 2000. Filipino beauty Megan Young was the winner of Miss World 2013.
