'Krishna district to be free of open defecation by December'

Collector Babu A today said all the villages in the Krishna district would be free of open defecation by the end of December.
Andhra Pradesh chief secretary S P Takkar and union secretary for drinking water and sanitation Parameswar Nair conducted a video conference today with all the district collectors in Andhra Pradesh.
During the conference, Krishna district collector stated that 37 villages in the district are now free of the menace of open defecation, an official release said.
As many as 32,547 toilets were constructed in this financial year and another 20,217 are under-construction in the rural areas.
