Shot in India and China, the film also stars Bollywood actors Sonu Sood and Amyra Dastur.
"The production is over and the film is expected to be released sometime later this year. But before this, we had 'Xuan Zhang' which released in China earlier," Charge d'Affaires, Embassy of China in India, Jinsong Liu, said on the sidelines of an event here.
Jackie Chan was in the country earlier this month to shoot for the India leg of the film, which included Rajasthan.
Historical adventure film "Xuan Zhang" tracing the famed Chinese monk's epic 17-year journey to India released across China on April 29.
The USD 22 million biopic on Tang dynasty scholar and traveller Xuan Zhang hit 6,500 theatres and retells his odyssey that has become an enduring legacy of the cultural ties between the two countries.
"Xuan Zhang" is the first Sino-India co-production and besides location in China, in India it was shot in Nalanda in Bihar and Daulatabad and Ajantha and Ellora caves in Maharashtra.
