Beauty products maker L'Oreal India today announced that its long-serving Chief Operating Officer Dinesh Dayal is leaving the company after over 30 years of service.
"Dinesh will pursue his entrepreneurial dreams and start his own advisory venture," the company said in a statement.
During his long stint in L'Oreal, Dayal worked in French and Asian markets, and was instrumental in setting up operations for L'Oreal in India, it added.
He was instrumental in launching several brands like Garnier and L'Oreal Paris Excellence creme in India. He began his career as a Product Manager at L'Oreal Head Quarters in Paris after he completed his Management studies from INSEAD Business School.
Dayal spearheaded various projects during his six-year tenure in Paris, and was subsequently sent to India to set up the India operation for L'Oreal.
"Today, L'Oreal India has evolved from a start-up to a market leader in beauty in various categories with a turnover of Rs 2000 crore," the company said.
He also played an active role in the recent acquisition of Cheryl's Cosmeceuticals (a professional skincare brand) and was also influential in setting up various sustainability platforms for L'Oreal India, it added.
Commenting on his departure, Dayal said: "I was given great degree of freedom to take on new projects, thanks to which I have been able to live my dream of an 'intraprenuer'."
The company said Dayal will continue to work with L'Oreal India in the capacity of a consultant.
As President of the Indian Beauty & Hygiene Association (IBHA), he will dedicate more of his time to creating and formulating industry policy and benchmarks, it added.
