Lahiri, who failed to score any points in his three matches in Presdent's Cup 2015, will be looking to get over that statistic as he goes out in the second last pairing with the 2011 Masters winner, Schawartzel.
"I have been looking forward to this match for two years, even since Korea. I am all pumped and Charl is a great teammate, so we should do well," said Lahiri.
International captain Nick Price while pairing Lahiri with Schwartzel, said, "Anirban is a great partner for anybody, but he'll be good for Charl. And Charl will take over maybe the more older statesman or the more mature guy, the more experienced guy in that group."
On splitting Hideki Matsuyama and Schwartzel, he added, "You know, he (Hideki) has had such a huge year. I think he's probably a little tired but he played so well in the practice rounds. I think today, it was a little bit of a ball issue with the two of them, which, you know, we did not really pick up because it was not windy the last two practice days. So that affected Charl a little bit more than it did Hideki.
Schwartzel playing with Hideki Matsuyama, one of the biggest hopes for the International team, lost heavily 6 and 4, the biggest margin of the day, to America's lead pairing, Justin Thomas and Rickie Fowler.
Even though Thomas and Fowler were 1-down after the first two holes, they won four out of the next five to seize control of the match. That included a Fowler chip-in on the third hole for birdie. As Thomas birdied the par-4 12th to US 5-up they closed out the match on the par-4 14th.
Schwartzel has never won a point in six career Presidents Cup foursomes matches.
