Reaching out to farmers, Union Minister for Rural Development Birender Singh today assured them that no land will be acquired until consent is taken from the land owners and the "acquired land will not be given to industrialists and businessmen."
Addressing a gathering here on the second day of the Agri Leadership Summit, Singh said he could not sleep for two nights when the Land Acquisition Bill was to be tabled in Lok Sabha, which has witnessed opposition from various quarters.
"... No land will be acquired until consent is taken from the land owners and the acquired land will not be given to Industrialists and businessmen," a press release from Haryana Government quoted Singh as saying.
Singh said he kept on thinking about farmers "who are dear to him" and on the other hand he had to discharge the responsibilities given by the party.
The Minister assured the farmers that he cannot even think of any injustice to them.
Singh, who was earlier with Congress and joined the BJP last year, further said "in whichever party he remains, he would not never let down the farmers interests" and appealed to the farmers to beware of rumour mongers.
He said that he can assure the farmers on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that their interests will not be overlooked in the Land Acquisition Bill.
Earlier, Haryana Agriculture Minister O P Dhankar said that the government has enhanced the incentive under 'milching cattle scheme' from Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 for giving boost to White Revolution in the state.
The cows yielding 6 kilo litre milk will be given Rs 10,000 and the cows milking more than six kilo litre will get Rs 20,000.
He said that the A2 vitamin is found in the milk of Haryanvi Desi cows only which is beneficial for human health.
Union Minister of State for Agriculture Sanjeev Balyan said the Summit has provided opportunity to the common masses to know and purchase the farm produce from close quarters.
