The sprawling zone, identified by the Delhi Development Authority in 2007, has around 40 plots. But, its allotment is yet to be done.
"The parcel of land we had identified for the diplomatic enclave has been handed over to the Land and Development Office (L&DO). The ball is in its court now. And, so any further decision on the project would be taken by it (L&DO) only," a senior DDA official told PTI.
The Cabinet had in January "approved transfer of 34.87 hectares land" in Dwarka's Sector-24, from the Delhi Development Authority to the Land and Development Office for the purpose.
"The transfer of Dwarka land was done a few months ago," the senior official said, adding, "The Chanakyapuri diplomatic zone was established by the L&DO as well."
The capital city's fist diplomatic area was established at Chanakyapuri. Developed in 1950s, it houses embassies, chanceries, high commissions and residences of ambassadors.
The iconic enclave in central Delhi is built around a wide central vista -- Shanti Path -- with wide green landscaped areas, verdant lawns and blooming gardens.
