Congress today termed the ordinance on land acquisition as conspiracy to hand over land of poor farmers to capitalists at throwaway price and said the party will continue to oppose until it is withdrawn.
"I have come from Gujarat, where I have seen how the land of lakhs of farmers was given to the some capitalists at throw away price by Modiji in the name of planned development. Now through this ordinance, I see the same being done in the whole country," AICC general secretary and in-charge of party affairs in the state Madhusudan Mistry said during kisan mahapanchayat in Gautambudh nagar.
Exhorting the farmers to continue their fight over the issue fearlessly, Mistry promised to support their struggle.
"No one has the power to snatch farmers' land from them," a party release issued here said quoting Mistry, who also cautioned farmers against the plot against them.
The Congress leader also attacked the Uttar Pradesh government alleging that farmers' land has been taken forcibly at meagre rates and given to industrialists in the name of development to help them earn huge profits.
UPCC president Nirmal Khatri, in his address, said that party would continue its struggle till the said ordinance was withdrawn.
