Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera of the Army's media directorate said a foundation stone is to be laid tomorrow for a new meditation residential facility for the troops.
"We have been often asked the question if the soldiers only receive arms training. This programme would help the troops gain spiritual upliftment," Jayaweera said.
The centre located north of the capital Colombo in district of Gampaha would accommodate 100 troops at a time, Jayaweera said.
The meditation centre for the troops will be the first of its kind in Asia, Jayaweera added.
Over 300,000 strength of the three forces are now deployed mostly in rebuilding the war devastated infrastructure.
