The 53-year-old actor, who plays FBI agent Jack Crawford in the NBC series, confirmed the news after his character's life was last seen hanging in the balance at the end of the previous run, reported Deadline.
When asked what to expect from Crawford in season three, Fishburne said, "Jack is back."
Fishburne, also starring in upcoming ABC comedy 'Black-ish' with Anthony Anderson, added that he is grateful for the opportunity to play a broad range of roles.
"It's exactly what I love about what I do as an actor. I love the opportunity to use my full range, and so playing in the comedy Black-ish gives me the opportunity to show my lighter side, and playing in this beautiful, elegant horror story of Hannibal, I get to use my darker and more cerebral side. It's really wonderful," he added.
