V K Ahuja, Associate Professor at the Campus Law Centre-II, was attacked by some miscreants yesterday , according to Delhi University Teachers' Association (DUTA).

The incident occurred when the Deputy Superintendent of Examination was on his way home after conducting the LLB examination at the Law Faculty.

The DUTA condemned the assault and said the University was "shying away" from institutional responsibility in failing to get a formal complaint registered.

In a letter to the Vice Chancellor, the body drew his urgent attention to the incident and said the University's failure to take up the case would create an environment of terror and fear.

"It is the prime duty of the University to ensure security of teachers at least while they are discharging their official duty," the letter read.
