A local vernacular daily published the report on Friday, claiming it was made available to the newspaper and that Sinha was assassinated due to his close link with the banned insurgent outfit National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT).
Sinha was shot dead by the ultras on March 31, 1998 at Kamalpur subdivision in Dhalai district.
The leader of the opposition (Congress), Sudip Roy Burman, raised the issue in the floor of the assembly on Friday and demanded an inquiry on how the report could be leaked before it was tabled in the assembly.
"It should be first ascertained that whether the report published in the newspaper was true and if found true there should be an inquiry on how it was leaked," Sarkar told the assembly.
The Yusuf Commission was appointed by the Left Front government in 1998 which submitted it's report on Jan 31, 2000, but the government did not publish the report.
Following a writ petition filed by an advocate in the Tripura High Court, the court recently ordered the government to publish the report immediately and the government stated in court that the report would be tabled in the budget session of the assembly.
