Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said he had picked up some Japanese language from his Principal Secretary before embarking on his five-day trip abroad which proved to be useful.
"R S Khullar (senior IAS officer) during his posting in Japan earlier had learnt the Japanese language. Before embarking on my trip, I had learnt many words from him which came in handy during the Japan visit," Khattar said while speaking on the sidelines at the Capitol Complex here.
"During my various interactions there, I spoke few words in Japanese and it came in handy," he said.
Khattar, who returned from his two-nation trip to Japan and China last night, was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the visit of French President Francois Hollande and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Capitol Complex in Chandigarh, which was one of the venues visited by the top dignitaries here today.
Punjab and Haryana Governor and UT Administrator Kaptan Singh Solanki and his advisor Vijay Kumar Dev were also present.
Khattar had last week embarked on a five-day visit to Japan and China to woo foreign investment in Haryana.
Khattar also blamed the previous government for not
filling the vacant posts and said that the state government had started recruitment process for 50,000 posts in various departments.
He said that only government jobs alone could not address the problem of unemployment as only 12,000 to 15,000 vacancies are advertised in a year.
The Chief Minister described the 10-year rule of the previous government as a "black chapter" in the field of education.
"We have reintroduced the monthly exam system in schools and also taken various other initiatives to bring about improvement in education system," he said.
The Chief Minister said the government is laying special emphasis on strengthening of infrastructure in the State.
A new express way is being constructed from Delhi to Amritsar via Rohtak -Jind and other districts through which the travel between Delhi and Amritsar would be covered in just five hours, CM said.
