One of the fastest bowlers ever to take the field in international cricket, former Australian speedster Brett Lee is being outpaced in his own backyard these days by a six-month-old puppy, which according to him, is as fast as Usain Bolt!
The 36-year-old, who was in the capital today to launch a new range of dog food 'Pedigree Senior', joked about his experience of owning a dog after having pets ranging from rabbits to guniea pigs.
"I have finally got a dog, its name is Ginger and my son (Preston Charles Lee) just loves him," said the affable Australian, while launching the Mars India's International's latest product.
The former pacer, who remains active in the Twenty20 cricket, said having the puppy at home has also helped his fitness.
"When you have a six month old puppy running around all over your house, it keeps you on your toes. He is fast like Usain Bolt. So it's hard work but I am enjoying it," said Lee with the trademark smile on his face.
"I have had rabbits, guinea pigs, all kinds of birds as pets while growing up and now I have a dog also," he said.
Talking of his other love -- India, Lee said even after numerous visits he remains enchanted by the country he has come to call his second home.
"I feel very honoured everytime I come to India because this country teaches you so many things. It has taught me to be happy and content with what I have in life. It is always pleasing to come down here," he said.
Lee retired from international cricket in 2012 with 310 Test and 380 ODI wickets. Despite being hampered by several injury breakdowns, Lee rose to become Australia's pace spearhead and at his peak, was considered the fastest bowler in international cricket.
