Left parties unite for campaign against communal offensive

Continuing their attack on RSS-BJP over "growing intolerance" in the country, CPI(M) today said six Left parties will join hands to launch a nationwide campaign against communal hate offensive allegedly spearheaded by the right-wing outfits in the first week of December.
Speaking to presspersons here, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury accused right-wing outfits of undermining country's secular foundations creating insecurity amongst minorities and also hailed protests launched by intellectuals against such "intolerance".
"Six Left parties, CPI(M), CPI, CPI(ML)-Liberation, AIFB, RSP and SUCI(C) have given a call to launch a nationwide campaign against communal hate offensive spearheaded by RSS and patronized by this BJP led government, from 1st to 6th December, 2015," Yechury said.

Yechury made the remark following conclusion of party's four-day central committee meeting yesterday.
Among other issues, the Rajya Sabha MP said the committee analysed performance of Left parties in the recently-concluded Bihar Assembly polls and maintained the election verdict will help strengthen the fight against right-wing communal forces in the country.
Yechury said he will be attending Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's swearing-in ceremony in Patna on November 20.

He noted that Left Democratic Front's (LDF) success during Kerala local body elections earlier this month as "rejection" of Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government's "anti-people" record and corruption.
"People have also rebuffed BJP's communal politics and its efforts to rally leaders of caste-based outftis," he said.

The committee also expressed serious concern over "ominous" political developments taking place in Punjab, which are "gravely" disrupting peace and communal harmony in the state, Yechury said.
"Failure of (Parkash Singh) Badal Government in capturing culprits responsible for desecration of Guru Granth Sahib and its inept handling of mass protests leading to deaths of two Sikh youth in police firing, is providing ammunition to Sikh fundamentalists and pro-Khalisthani elements," CPI(M) claimed.
Yechury reiterated his party's criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over recently announced FDI reforms, saying the unilateral declaration will further facilitate "loot" of Indian resources and markets by vastly enhancing access of foreign capital into the country.
