Legal luminaries were unanimous in suggesting that by institutional and individual endeavours, judicial capability in the country could be significantly enhanced despite the low percentage of judges and inadequate funds and infrastructure in judiciary.
Speaking at a national seminar on "Enhancing Judicial Capability" by way of reviewing rules, practices and technology here yesterday, Judges of Supreme Court and several judges of High Courts discussed ways and measures to enhance the capability of judicial officers within the existing framework.
Justice Dipak Misra of the Supreme Court inaugurated the seminar in presence of his colleagues Justice F M I Kalifulla and Justice R Banumathi.
While Chief Justice of Orissa High Court Amitava Roy delivered the inaugural address, senior judge of the High Court Justice Pradip Kumar Mohanty proposed the vote of thanks.
Besides deliberations on enhancing judicial capability, the legal luminaries held discussions on 'access to justice' (changing perspectives and alternate dispute redressal), 'practice in courts' (contemporary and actuality) and 'technology' (changing paradigm shift).
At least 250 judicial officers from across the country are participating in the two-day national seminar, being held at Odisha Judicial Academy here under the aegis of Odisha State Legal Services Authority.
