West Bengal Left Front chairman Biman Bose today criticised the state government for allowing lengthy summer holidays in state-run schools, though private schools are open and alleged the move was a "ploy" to "sell" the education system into private hands.
"This is strange. The state government has increased summer holidays due to hot weather, but private schools are still holding classes. This is nothing but a ploy to sell the education system into private hands," Bose alleged.
Bose also criticised the government for "failing" to control the prices of potato, which are increasing everyday despite a task force the government has formed to check the prices of vegetables and essentials.
"If the state government does not take any concrete step, we will hit the streets before May 19," he said.
Bose demanded that the Election Commission take special measures to ensure full proof security of the strongrooms where the EVMs are stored.
