Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal today directed all agencies concerned to take steps against all kinds of encroachments in the city.
The LG also said that to prevent re-encroachment in pedestrian zones, the agencies should explore permanent solutions such as installation of street furniture.
Baijal held a meeting to review the progress of traffic decongestion measures on the 11 pilot corridors, including Aurobindo Marg, Mathura Road, Savitri Flyover, Dhaula Kuan, Sardar Patel Marg, and Mehrauli Badarpur Road.
"The Lt Governor stressed that to prevent re-encroachment on pedestrian streets/walkways, agencies must explore permanent solutions like installation of street furniture/benches. The LG directed all the agencies to strictly take enforcement measures against all kinds of encroachments," his office said in a statement.
It said that the LG expressed concern over the huge increase in traffic movement projected after the completion of Rani Jhansi Grade Separator from Idgah to Tis Hazari Courts at Rani Jhansi Marg.
"The LG directed the agencies concerned to prepare a comprehensive decongestion plan in this regard," the statement read.
