A person has been awarded rigorous life imprisonment for killing his sister-in-law 22 years ago.
District and Sessions Judge Dibyajyoti Mahanta also imposed a fine of 1,000 on Mohibul Haque Ahmed for killing his brother's wife Fatima Bibi in April, 1993.
Ahmed had attacked Bibi with an axe following a family dispute and she succumbed to her injuries the next day at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital.
He was arrested and subsequently secured bail but was taken into custody again today.
