"The Khonmoh Industrial estate has been locked out by the local residents. The agitated mob also roughed up several unit holders and their staff for continuing work inside the estate," a unit holder told PTI.
He claimed that the local residents threatened the unit holders of "dire consequences" if anyone resumed work inside the Industrial Estate before the goverment accedes to their demand of providing uninterrupted power supply to Khonmoh and adjoining areas.
"The industrial unit is getting 24x7 power supply we only get a glimpse of it every day. We met the local MLA (Mohammad Ashraf Mir), who is also MoS Power, but nothing has happened so far. We have been forced to take this action," Ahmad said.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Farooq Ahmad Lone admitted that local residents were protesting against the alleged erratic power supply in the area.
"There was a situation in the morning, which has almost been resolved now," Lone said.
"I will look into the matter and if found true, appropriate action will be taken," he added.
