Expanding its presence in North America, a US-based unit of NRI industrialist Lord Swraj Paul-led Caparo Group has acquired two sprinkler pipe mills for an undisclosed amount.
The acquisition has been made through Bull Moose Tube, a subsidiary of North American manufacturing group Bull Moose Industries owned by Lord Paul.
"This purchase by our company Bull Moose Tube is yet another example of our ongoing pursuit of growth opportunities in the US. We will continue to support the efforts of our US- based businesses as they continue to expand," Lord Paul said in a company statement.
The newly purchased mills will be incorporated into sprinkler-pipe manufacturing operations at two of its existing locations.
The first of these mills is scheduled to be added to Bull Moose's Trenton unit later this year, representing the company's first sprinkler manufacturing mill in the Southeast.
The second mill - tentatively scheduled to be added to the company's existing operations in Casa Grande after the Trenton mill is completed - would enhance that location's current production capacity and support Bull Moose's growing business on the West Coast.
The asset purchase comes on the heels of the company's announcement in October last year regarding its increased commitment to an investment in its sprinkler-pipe operations amid growing demand in the marketplace.
With addition of these two mills, coupled with the investments made in 2015, Bull Moose will effectively double its sprinkler output capabilities.
Caparo, founded in 1968 by the NRI industrialist, is a fast-growing UK-based group with a turnover of over one billion euro. With business interests spanning across manufacturing of steel, automotive and general engineering products, it has grown into a global entity and has over 40 companies operating from over 60 sites worldwide.
Bull Moose Industries CEO Michael Blatz said the latest move was important to meet customers' growth objectives while maintaining a high level of customer service.
"We realise that this purchase like any major investment has its inherent risks. The sprinkler pipe marketplace is not without its challenges, as evidenced by the recent departure of a major manufacturer.
"But we are confident that our production footprint, our strong financial position, our solid product-certification track record and our reputation as a trusted leader in sprinkler-pipe production uniquely positions us to make this investment and to continue to meet customer demand," Blatz added.
