"The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level and the system is likely to intensify into a depression during the next 24 hours," IMD Director Sarat Sahu said.
Sahu said yesterday's low pressure area over north-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal now lies as a Well Marked Low Pressure Area over the north-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal and coastal areas of Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh at 0830 hours today.
While suggesting hoisting of Local Cautionary Signal Number Three (LC-III)at all ports in Odisha, the IMD advised fishermen not to venture into the sea due to rough to very rough condition of the ocean.
