Lt Gen P S Jaggi, one of the senior-most serving officers of the Indian Army, has passed away.
He died yesterday and his last rites were held today at the Brar Square in the Delhi Cantonment, defence sources said.
Jaggi's last appointment was as the Director General of the Corps of Army Air Defence.
Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today paid tributes to him.
"Smt @nsitharaman pays her last respects to Lt Gen PS Jaggi, Director General, Army Air Defence & offers deepest condolences to his family at Brar Square, New Delhi," the Defence Ministry tweeted with pictures of the memorial service.
