Maha approves 'A' class pilgrimage status for Chaitya Bhoomi

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today approved 'A' class pilgrimage and tourist destination status for Chaitya Bhoomi, the memorial of Dr B R Ambedkar in Central Mumbai.
The move will pave way for the overall development of the place of historic importance, an official in the Chief Minister's Office said.
The government had earlier granted 'A' class pilgrimage and tourist destination status to 'Deekshabhoomi' in Nagpur where Ambedkar along with his followers embraced Buddhism in 1956.
Earlier, last month National Textile Corporation (NTC) had given permission to the state government to start construction of the Ambedkar memorial at Indu mill, near the Chaitya Bhoomi.

In another decision, the official said the government has decided to allow sheep grazing in forest areas during rainy season in Buldhana and Jalgaon districts on experimental basis.
Government will decide the overall policy for the entire state after studying the impact of this decision.
According to the website of state Forest department, at present, sheep grazing in forest area is permitted between September 15 to May 15.
