Maha cops begin probe into threat letter on job hiring, quota

A three-page letter about hiring in companies, with an anti-reservation stance and signed off with a threat, surfaced Monday in some parts of Nagpur in Maharashtra, following which police started a probe, an official said.

One of the letters was pasted on a bus stop near Nagpur University campus, Ambazari police station in charge Smita Patil told PTI.

The letter asks companies to "hire open economically backward students (EBC)" and then follows it up with a demand to "free up education loan of EBC students".

It goes on to claim that "now in India every life will be killed only for the reason of reservation".

The letter further asks companies based in India to start the process of "giving jobs for open EBC candidates by giving paper advertisements", and by taking interviews.

The letter then moves on to a threat by stating that "we can hack any network system and latest designs of angular made guns, bombs, techs etc".

The threat continues with the letter, possibly referring to an unending sequence of retribution, boasting that "if we start then we don't have cancel button".

Inspector Smita Patil said the letter might be the handiwork of mischief-mongers but added that a probe into its antecedents is underway.

"We have removed the three-page letters and have begun an inquiry," Patil said.
