Maharashtra finishes 2nd in Junior Aquatic C'ship

Maharashtra rounded off the 43rd Glenmark Junior National Aquatic Championship at the second place with 406 points in the overall championship table, headed by Karnataka with 607 points.
In the team championships, Maharashtra won the Boys Group I title while Karnataka won the Boys Group II, Girls group I and Girls Group II team championships.
Neel Roy of Maharashtra won the individual championships for the boys Group I with 2 golds and 1 new record. Sanjay C J of Karnataka won the individual championship for Boys Group II with 5 golds and 3 new records.
In the girls, Damini Gowda of Karnataka won the best swimmer with 5 golds and 3 records while Mayuri Lingaraj won the same in the girls group II with 4 Golds and 1 new record.

Mihir Ambre of Maharashtra won gold in the 100m butterfly with a time of 57.72 sec. He was followed by Priyank Rana of Delhi with a time of 58.25 sec while Shivansh Sahu of Chhattisgarh won bronze with a time of 58.33 sec.
The final race of the event proved to be an absolute thriller with Kenisha Gupta of Maharashtra won gold pipping Annie Jain of Madhya Pradesh who trains with the Glenmark SAI national swimming Academy and Mayuri Lingaraj of Karnataka. Kenisha clocked 1:01.92 sec while Annie clocked 1:02.19 sec and Mayuri clocked 1:02.37 sec.

The final session of the concluding day of the tournament ended with the 4*100m IM for Girls Group I. Rayna Saldahna secured a bronze in their final event of the meet with a time of 5:31.61 sec, Rhia Singh of Karnataka won silver with a time of 5:29.20 sec while Sayani Ghosh created a new national record winning gold with a time of 5:14.04 sec.

Vedika Makhija won a bronze in the 4*100 Group II girls with a time of 5:48.11 sec. The Karnataka swimming duo of Saachi G and Poojitha G murthy won silver and gold with a time of 5:47.21 sec and 5:42.48 sec respectively.
Siddharth Sankhe of Maharashtra won bronze with a time of 2:30.13 sec in the 200m Breast Stroke Boys Group I while Varun Patel of Madhya Pradesh who trains at the Glenmark SAI National Academy in Delhi won the gold in with a time of 2:29.08 sec. Yuvraj Patel of Gujarat won silver with a time of 2:29.64 sec.
