Traders' associations who have been protesting against imposition of the local body tax (LBT) met Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray today and sought his intervention.
The meeting with Uddhav comes a day after they met Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, who appealed to them to open their shops so that common people do not suffer.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting at his residence Matoshree, Uddhav asked the government not to impose LBT on traders and continue with octroi for the time being.
He said experts should be appointed to study the pros and cons of the new tax.
