The state cabinet today decided that Maharashtra would be a part of the new admission regime.
The standard 12th curriculum will be upgraded next year to bring it up to the standard of JEE, the cabinet decided at the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.
For the admission purpose, scores of both the entrance exam and the std 12th exam would be considered on 50:50 basis.
State officials said the advantage of becoming a part of JEE admission system was that students would have to take only one entrance exam, which would suffice for IITs too. This would particularly help the students from rural areas, officials added.
