"Yes, that (qualifying for Rio Games) is my main aim. After I recover from my injury, I plan to compete in qualifying tournaments next year and make it to the Rio Olympics," the five-time world champion and 2012 London Olympic Games bronze medallist told reporters here today.
Mary explained that she hurt her back and hamstring while training.
"Those are minor injuries and with proper treatment I will be fine and I hope to be in action soon next year and compete in major tournaments. Whenever I compete, people expect me to win and I try to do better every time."
The 31-year-old, who symbolises women's boxing in the country, did not see herself competing beyond the Rio Games.
She wanted to stay clear of all controversies surrounding her fellow Manipuri boxer Sarita Devi who is facing the prospect of a lengthy ban from the world boxing body AIBA for refusing to accept the bronze she won in Incheon at the medal ceremony.
"I just want to say that I want her (likely) suspension (if it happens) to be lifted as soon as possible," she said reluctantly.
