Mallika Srinivasan conferred Sir Jehangir Ghandy medal

Chairman and CEO of Tractor and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE) Mallika Srinivasan has been conferred the prestigious Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Social and Industrial Peace at the 59th Convocation of XLRI-Xavier School of Management here today.
While accepting the medal, Padma Shri awardee Srinivasan said, "I am really honored and humbled at being conferred the prestigious Sir Jehangir Ghandy medal for social and industrial peace.
Srinivasan said the government at the Centre has an inspiring development agenda which includes the concept of 'Make in India'.
India, which has overcome the colonial hangover of the past, has emerged as the most sought-after investment destination and has vast market with four-fold advantage with large domestic market, large market for two-wheeler, automobile, consumer goods, mobile phones etc, she said, asking the passed out students to seize every opportunity.
Chairman of Board of Governors at XLRI, T V Narendran, who is also the Managing Director of Tata Steel (India and South East Asia), exhorted to the students, "There will be tough decisions for you to make, ethical dilemmas to confront."
"XLRI stands for partnering progressive growth of our nation. This institution epitomizes value-based education and all-round development of individuals. It is these values that set XLRI apart from other business schools of the country, Narendran said.
On this significant day, 526 students received their graduating certificates and medals.
This year, the first batch of the Global MBA programme launched by XLRI in partnership with Weatherhead School of Management, USA and School of Economics and Management of Tongji University, Shanghai, China also received their graduating certificates on completion of their two-year course.
