"Road safety is a very important aspect in our lives. Roads take us to schools, colleges, hospitals, markets, offices - practically to almost all places connected with our day to day living. And at the end of the day, roads take us to our homes," Banerjee said in a Facebook post.
"Safe driving is an essential component of road safety. Everyday, so many lives are lost due to irresponsible driving," she said.
"It is targeted to achieve cohesion among civil society, police, transport, health, roads and other government departments and NGOs to sensitise people about different aspects of safe driving and road safety," Banerjee said.
"Let us all take collective pledge to use roads sensibly, drive responsibly and ensure safety of everyone on the roads. I urge all of you to join us in this unique programme and work together for safety on the roads," the chief minister said.
