Banerjee got down from her car a few metres away from the secretariat and walked in with Finance, Commerce & Industries Minister Amit Mitra. She was welcomed with a flower bouquet by chief secretary Basudeb Banerjee.
A ceremonial guard of honour was given to her at the entrance by the police.
Flowers were showered on Banerjee from the floors above as she entered the secretariat building amidst blowing of conch shells and Shehnai music.
