"Mamataji and Modiji are making false promises. Mamataji talked of providing jobs to 70 lakh people, while Modiji had said two crore jobs will be given by his government. But not a single person has got employment," Gandhi said while addressing election meetings in support of Congress and Left candidates.
Sharing the platform with CPI(M) leaders, he also spoke about the "understanding" between Modi and Mamata.
He charged Banerjee and Modi with "telling lies about action against corruption and unemployment".
He said Modi had promised to bring back blackmoney and give it to the people and fight corruption but nothing has been done.
"On the other hand, his government has brought laws to turn blackmoney into white which I call the Fair and Lovely scheme. Anybody, be a mafia or a thief can turn blackmoney into white by paying a little bit of tax," he said.
Turning to the flyover collapse in Kolkata, he said "It is only in Bengal that a flyover could not be built in five years. Mamata government had given contract to a TMC man who had supplied substandard material which led to the collapse. TMC did not suffer, the people suffered in the incident."
He said, "Like the flyover, TMC government will also fall" and added if the Congress-Left alliance is voted to power, action will be taken against those responsible for the collapse of the flyover.
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi today sought votes for his party as well as CPI(M) to defeat the ruling Trinamool Congress dispensation saying "it did not fulfil its promises made five years back".
Meanwhile, TMC hit back at Gandhi, saying "while campaigning in Kerala on February 9, he attacked the Left claiming that their ideology is obsolete and of the last century".
"But during his campaign in West Bengal on April 2, he had asked Congress workers to go to the people holding the hand of the Left to defeat TMC," party national spokesperson Derek O'Brien said, adding "Ideology changes like a T-shirt.
