Banerjee, who is also the state Health minister, paid a visit to the SSKM hospital before going to the secretariat Nabanna this afternoon.
It was learnt that she directed city Mayor to employ workers of Kolkata Municipal Corporation under the 100-day scheme to look into the cleanliness at the hospital.
"On the direction of the Chief Minister, KMC will from now look into the cleanliness at the SSKM hospital," city Mayor Sovan Chatterjee said today.
The waste management in state-run hospitals is done by the Public Works Department (PWD) and not by Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC).
At the SSKM, Banerjee spoke to senior officials of the hospital as well as staff members.
