Man arrested for offering bribe to police officer

A man was arrested for allegedly offering a bribe to a police officer in Assam's Sonitpur district who was probing a rape case, police said today.
A person, identified as Saha Ali, allegedly offered a bribe of Rs one lakh to the Investigation Officer of Dhekiajuli police station urging him not to take action against Rajibul Rahman who was accused of raping the girl on May 22 at Bosa Simolu gaon in Barsala.
The police arrested both Ali and Rehman, who was absconding since the incident, last night, Sonitpur Superintendent of Police Sanjukta Parashar said.
