According to API, P A Pore of Mumbra Police Station, the incident took place on October 21, when the victim got out of her house at Amrut Nagar locality in the evening to buy some snacks.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Nasir Abdul Rashid Shaikh, pulled the girl, his neighbour, inside an autorickshaw which was parked on the roadside and sexually abused her, police said.
He later threatened her with dire consequences if she reveals anything to anyone.
Subsequently, the child ran to her house in pain and narrated the entire incident to her parents after which a offence was registered against Shaikh.
He has been charged under sections 376, 506(2) of the IPC and also Sections 4 and 8 of the POCSO Act 2012, police said.
