The accused Ahmad Hussain, a native of District Katihar of Bihar, who carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, was arrested on May 24 from New Delhi Railway station.
The accused has been arrested for allegedly murdering security guard Lalji Pandey from district Balrampur in UP, who on January 3, 2013, had come to Delhi for depositing water samples on behalf of Balrampur Sugar Mills.
The following day, after depositing the water samples, he informed his wife over phone that he was returning but did not reach home following which his wife lodged a complaint.
"On January 12, Pandey's body was found under Jahangirpuri Metro Station following which police began probe. It was then revealed that Kamrul had died. Raids were conducted in Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Delhi to trace Ahmad but he could not be found," a senior police official said.
He was arrested on May 24.
"During interrogation, Ahmad revealed that he along with Kamrul used to drug and rob passengers of rickshaw pulled by Kamrul. On January 5, 2013, the deceased had hired Kamrul's rickshaw from Malka Ganj to Old Delhi Railway Station.
When later Pandey did not regain senses, they took him in their rickshaw and dumped him under Jahangir Puri Metro Station. Pandey's body was recovered on January 12, 2013.
"Further investigation is on," said the official.
