Police said that Devayat Jovta, on whose behest 26-year-old Bharatbhai Uka Gohil was allegedly set on fire near Veraval by four unidentified persons last Saturday, was arrested from neighbouring Palghar district.
Gohil, a resident of Gir Somnath in Gujarat, died of burn injuries in a hospital in Rajkot yesterday but had managed to tell cops earlier that Jovta was responsible for the incident.
Police said that Jovta, who was absconding since the incident, managed to escape when police from the Crime Branch's Unit 10, on specific information, raided a hotel in suburban Andheri where he was hiding.
Police said that, while under treatment, Gohil had given a statement that Jovta had threatened him over money outstanding on a car Gohil had purchased in Ahmedabad.
