The deceased, identified as Trilok Joshi fell from the 12th floor of the 13 storey Pragati Tower in Rajender Place, through the shaft of the lift which had reportedly developed some snag around 11 am, said a senior police officer.
Police said that that Trilok was stepping out of the lift on the 12th floor when due to some snag its doors closed and it moved to the top floor. His bag was stuck in the door and he lost balance and fell through the shaft to the ground.
"A case under Section 304 A(causing death by negligence) has been registered against unknown persons at Prasad Nagar police station and investigation has been undertaken," said Parmaditya, DCP(central).
Trilok worked as a field agent in a Law firm which was located at the 12th floor of the building. He had gone to the office and took one of the three lifts of the building which was allegedly having some trouble, police said.
