Saranjit Kaur (49), her daughter Jasjit Kaur (22) and the latter's boyfriend Arjun Singh Sindhuria (25) were booked yesterday for fraudulently taking the money from 58-year-old transporter Jasmit Singh Sabharwal after he lodged a complaint against them, police said.
The trio had been cheating Sabharwal for over a year on the pretext of finding a suitable match for his daughter, police said.
Incidentally, Saranjit and Jasjit are relatives of Sabharwal.
During the course of the events, Arjun, hailing from Tamil Nadu, posed as a priest, they said.
After a year when they could not find a suitable life partner for his daughter, Sabharwal got suspicious and lodged a complaint with Panchpaoli police station.
An offence under section 420 (fraud) of IPC was registered after a preliminary inquiry, police said adding that no one had been arrested so far in the case.
