Special Judge Baldev Singh also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Lal Singh, a resident of villageJamni of Sarkaghat sub division in Mandi, after holding him guilty under sections 342 (wrongful confinement) and 376 (rape) of IPC and section 4 of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
The court further ordered that the victim alsobe paid Rs 25,000 under victim compensation scheme in accordance with rules in the case that occurred last year.
On May 30 last year, the girl was alone at her home when the convict entered the house and raped her. Her mother had gone to the school where she worked. Upon her return, the girl narrated the ordeal to her mother who then lodged an FIR against Lal Singh, leading to his arrest and prosecution.
